㈜독립문(회장 김형건)이 이번 F/W시즌 정식 런칭한 어반 패션 아웃도어 브랜드 ‘오프로드’가 유통망 오픈을 시작으로 본격적인 전개에 나섰다.
‘오프로드’는 지난 8월 23일 롯데 수원점을 시작으로 25일에 롯데 잠실점, 울산점을 동시에 오픈했고, 그 다음 9월 1일에 부산 본점과 인천터미널점 오픈했다. 이어 6일에는 롯데백화점 동탄점에 매장 오픈을 앞두고 있다.
이처럼 롯데백화점에 6개 매장을 오픈하는 오프로드는 가두 대리점도 이미 2개 매장을 확보한 상태다. 두개의 가두 대리점은 기존 아웃도어 브랜드 매장들의 매출이 높은 일산 덕이동과 경기 덕소 삼패동에 위치한다. 이로써 오프로드는 애초 계획한대로 일찌감치 첫 시즌에 목표한 8개의 유통망을 모두 확보하게 돼 향후 전개에 대한 높은 기대감이 안겨주고 있다.
이미 영업에 돌입한 매장을 중심으로 긍정적인 결과를 보이는 것으로 파악됐다. 첫 매장인 롯데 수원점의 경우 3일만에 재구매 고객이 나타나는가 하면 다른 매장에서는 고객 한 명이 하루에 두 번 방문해 각기 다른 제품을 구매하는 등 인지도 높은 브랜드에서나 볼 수 있는 모습을 보이고 있다.
이에 대해 류정하 전무는 “오프로드는 감도 높은 라이프스타일 제품과 기능성을 갖춘 아웃도어 제품을 함께 선보여 도심과 자연에서 모두 자연스러운 코디가 가능한 고프코어 룩을 지향한다”면서 “이러한 콘셉트에 맞춰 브랜드에 도입한 프리미엄 소재, 차별화된 실루엣, 그리고 정교한 디테일 등이 고객들로부터 호응을 얻는 것으로 보고 있다”고 설명했다.
또한 부자재 하나하나, 포켓ㆍ후드ㆍ지퍼 등의 디테일 하나하나에도 차별화된 스타일을 보여주기 위해 많은 노력을 기울이고 제품의 완성도를 한층 끌어 올렸다는 평가가 잇따르고 있다.

오프로드가 기존 아웃도어 브랜드와 다른 또 하나의 특징이 바로 젠더리스 브랜드라는 점이다. 젠더리스 제품 비중이 70%, 나머지 남성 20%, 여성 10%로 구성돼 있다. ‘
실제 매장에서도 남자가 구매한 제품을 조금 후에 여자가 동일한 제품을 구매해 가는 것을 볼 수 있다. 남녀가 사이즈만 다를 뿐 같은 제품을 실제 구매하고 모습을 보이고 있는 것이다.
류 전무는 “오프로드의 브랜드 철학으로 ‘나 다움’이 있다. 이는 오프로드 제품으로 각자 자신을 제대로 표현할 수 있도록 하기 위해 크로스 코디와 유니크함을 강조했다는 의미다. 젠더리스 트렌드에 맞는 감도 높은 오프로드 제품으로 자신만의 스타일을 구현해 ‘나 다움’을 찾기를 바라는 마음을 담았다”고 말했다.
오프로드는 자신만의 스타일 구현을 위해 각별히 팬츠 제품 차별화를 위해 노력하고 있다. 팬츠에 성공하면 브랜드 전체가 성공할 수 있다는 판단으로, 타 브랜드에 없는 새로운 스타일의 팬츠를 강화해 나간다는 방침이다. 이를 위해 컬러만 바꾸는 타 브랜드와 달리 팬츠마다 실루엣을 달리하고. 디테일도 다양하게 적용해 나가고 있다.
대표적으로 이번 F/W 시즌 출시한 ‘카고 조거팬츠’는 나일론 스트레치 소재를 활용해 우수한 활동성과 편안한 착용감을 강화했다. 여기에 요즘 트렌드 세터들이 즐겨 입는 와이드한 디자인을 적용해 한층 감도를 높인 점이 특징이다.
또한 오프로드는 친환경을 추구하는 것이 또 하나의 브랜드 아이덴티티이자, 철학이다. 이를 위해 이번 시즌 오프로드는 리사이클 원사와 인체에 무해한 실리콘 라벨 등을 사용했고, 향균 및 소취 기능이 있는 친환경 대나무 숯 소재는 팬츠에 적용했다.
뿐만 아니라, ‘오프로드’는 쇼핑백, 옷걸이 등에도 친환경 소재를 적용했다. 현재 전부 친환경 소재를 사용하진 않고 있지만 장기적으로는 100% 친환경 브랜드를 목표로 브랜드 운영 방향을 설정해 놓고 전개해 나가고 있다.
류 전무는 “기존 아웃도어 브랜드, 해외 브랜드를 답습하는 것을 거부한다. 이를 위해 초기에 브랜드 콘셉트를 정하는데 많은 시간과 에너지를 쏟았다. 수많은 시장조사와 소재 개발, 원부자재 소싱 등을 거쳐 최종 브랜드의 정체성을 확립할 수 있었다. 콘셉트와 정체성이 브랜드의 뿌리라고 생각한다. 뿌리가 튼튼하면 가지를 뻗고 꽃을 피우는 것은 쉬울 수 있다. 오프로드는 뿌리가 튼튼한 만큼 앞으로 지속적인 성장이 가능한 브랜드가 분명히 될 것”이라며 자신감을 보였다.
