올해 9월이면 국내 제로페이 가맹점에서 ‘알리페이’와 ‘알리페이 플러스’ 결제가 가능해진다. 한국간편결제진흥원(이사장 최통주, 이하 한결원)은 8일 알리페이코리아(대표 정형권, 이하 알리페이)와 서울 중구 알리페이코리아 본사에서 제로페이와 알리페이 및 알리페이 플러스와의 결제 연동을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.
이번 협약으로 중국 및 동남아권역 알리페이 이용자 10억명과 알리페이 플러스 e-월렛 이용자는 한국 방문 시 자국에서 사용하던 결제 앱으로 전국 170만개 제로페이 가맹점에서 편리하게 결제할 수 있게 된다. 알리페이 플러스는 해외 결제 전문기업인 아이씨비를 통해 2개월여의 결제 연동을 위한 개발 및 테스트 기간을 거쳐 중국 최대의 명절인 국경절(10월 1일) 이전에 서비스를 개시할 예정이다.
제로페이 인프라는 전체 가맹점의 94%가 소상공인으로, 알리페이 플러스와의 연동 결제 서비스가 개시되면 160만 소상공인의 매출 증대와 골목상권 활성화에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
최통주 한결원 이사장은 “올해는 코로나19 장기화로 크게 위축된 외국인 방한 수요를 회복해야 하고, 특히 올해와 내년이 ‘한국 관광 방문의 해’로 선포된 만큼 방한 관광객의 결제 편의를 제공하는 기반을 적극 구축해 소상공인 매출 증대와 내수 활성화에 보탬이 되겠다”고 밝혔다.
