한화커넥트(대표 김은희)가 커넥트플레이스 서울역점에서 ‘커넥트 갤러리 프로젝트(Connect Gallery Project)’를 운영하는 등 아트테인먼트 강화에 박차를 가한다.
한화커넥트는 짧은 일상속에서 예술적 경험을 쌓을 수 있도록 ‘더 데크(The Deck)’와 ‘더 누크(The Nook)’, 옥상정원 등 커넥트플레이스 서울역점만의 특화 공간을 활용, 유명 작가의 설치미술 작품 전시를 지속적으로 선보이는 커넥트 갤러리 프로젝트를 운영하고 있다.
여름휴가 시즌을 맞아 현대미술계의 블루칩 ‘김우진’ 작가와 협업, 일상과 여행 사이 ‘유토피아(UTOPIA)’라는 주제로 전시를 진행한다. 폐플라스틱과 스테인리스 등 차가운 소재를 활용해 사슴, 강아지 등 따뜻한 생명력을 가진 동물 조형물을 창조하는 작가의 특성을 반영, 대형 강아지와 사슴 가족 등 어른부터 아이까지 모두 즐길 수 있는 동물 작품들을 선보인다.
3층 외부 연결부인 더 데크에서는 강아지 모양의 대형벌룬 1기를, 2층 휴식 공간 더 누크에서는 사슴 모양의 금속조형물 3기를 9월 말까지 볼 수 있다. 또한, 4층의 오픈 갤러리에서는 김우진 작가의 대표 작품 3기를 전시하는 동시에 한정 수량 판매도 진행한다.
이에 앞서 지난 봄에는 팝아트 작가 ‘아트놈’과 함께 ‘해피 러브(Happy Love)’ 전시를, 지난해 연말에는 설치 미술작가 임지빈과 함께 ‘에브리웨어 프로젝트(EVERYWHERE Project)’ 일환으로 ‘해피커넥트(Happy Connect)’ 전시를 진행한 바 있다. 6m 높이의 초대형 베어벌룬 등을 선보이며 서울역을 찾은 고객들에게 특별한 볼거리와 추억을 선사한 바 있다.
