현대백화점(대표 정지영)이 K패션과 K뷰티 브랜드의 글로벌 진출을 활성화하고 성공적인 현지 시장 안착을 지원하기 위해 한국무역협회와 손을 맞잡는다.
현대백화점이 한국무역협회, 패션 플랫폼 스타트업 메디쿼터스와 ‘K-프리미엄 소비재 글로벌 대형유통망 진출사업’ 추진을 위한 3자 업무협약(MOU)을 12월 18일 체결했다.
이날 서울 강남구 트레이드타워에서 진행된 협약식에는 정지영 현대백화점 사장과 이인호 한국무역협회 부회장, 이두진 메디쿼터스 대표 등이 참석했다.
이번 업무협약은 40여 K브랜드들에게 일본과 대만 등의 해외 오프라인 매장에 입점할 수 있는 기회를 제공해 실질적 판로 확대를 지원하는 게 핵심이다. 이번 협약에 따라 현대백화점은 K브랜드를 현지 시장에 소개해 온 ‘더현대 글로벌’ 운영 노하우를 바탕으로 해외 유명 리테일에서 ‘K-프리미엄 스토어(가칭)’ 운영에 나선다. 입점 브랜드 선정은 물론, 해외 리테일과 매장 공간 확보 등을 위한 협상을 수행하게 된다.
한국무역협회는 K-프리미엄 스토어 입점 브랜드 모집 등의 상담회를 개최할 계획이며, 메디쿼터스는 매장 운영과 마케팅 등을 지원한다. 일본 패션 온라인몰이 주력 사업인 메디쿼터스는 현대백화점의 전략적 파트너사로 더현대 글로벌 일본 매장 운영과 Z세대 타깃 마케팅 등을 담당하고 있다.
K-프리미엄 스토어는 내년 3월부터 12월까지 약 10개월간 일본과 대만 등 해외 주요 리테일에서 순차적으로 운영된다. K패션과 K뷰티 총 40여 개 브랜드가 참여하며, 브랜드별로 최소 일주일에서 최대 한 달간 팝업스토어를 운영하는 방식으로 전개될 예정이다.
K-프리미엄 스토어 브랜드 모집 공고는 오는 12월 22일 한국무역협회 홈페이지에 게시되며, 다음달 21일 코엑스에서 사업 진행 과정과 지원 내용 등을 안내하는 상담회가 열린다. 현대백화점과 메디쿼터스는 브랜드 선정 과정에 참여해 내년 2월 중 최종 입점 브랜드를 결정할 예정이다.
