경기패션창작스튜디오(Gyeonggi Fashion Creative Studio, 이하 ‘GFCS’)가 10기 입주 디자이너를 모집해 새로운 신진 디자이너 양성에 나섰다. 한국패션디자이너연합회(회장 명유석, 이하 연합회)가 운영하는 경기패션창작스튜디오는 국내 최대 신진 디자이너 인큐베이팅 시설로, 디자이너별 개별 역량에 맞는 차별화된 지원을 통해 디자이너들이 우수 인력으로 성장하고 자신의 브랜드를 성공적으로 전개할 수 있는 발판을 마련해 주고 있다.
또한 연합회는 섬유·패션산업 활성화를 목적으로 창작 활동을 희망하면서 경제적 기반이 취약한 섬유·패션디자이너들을 위해 창작 공간도 제공한다. 경기패션창작스튜디오의 지원 프로그램으로는 창작공간 무상 지원, 재정 지원을 비롯해 판로개척을 위한 국내외 마케팅 지원, 브랜드 컨설팅 지원 등이 있다.
그간 경기패션창작스튜디오의 지원 과정을거쳐 인기 상승 중에 있는 대표적인 디자이너로는 1기 데일리미러(김주한), 3기 쎄쎄쎄(장윤경), 4기 비건타이거(양윤아), 5기 웨이비니스(김현섭), 6기 므아므(박현), 7기 음양(김종원) 등이 있다. 이들은 국내 패션 시장에서 활발한 활동을 펼쳐 기대주로 떠오르고 있다.
이번 10기 입주 디자이너는 지난 2024년 말에 선정됐다. 서류와 면접 심사에 거쳐 총 8개의 신진 브랜드들이 최종 선정됐고, 이들은 올해 1월 1일부터 경기섬유종합지원센터에 입주해 36개월 동안 각종 지원을 받게 된다.
10기에는 ‘데이 콜 미’의 양 환 디자이너, ‘머신 신테시스 콜렉티브(MSC)’의 장도현·장진우·오승은·박기정 디자이너, ‘본바이한’의 한상명 디자이너, ‘애프터 어나더’의 김재민 디자이너, ‘오로카와’의 김경택 디자이너, ‘JANGJINSEOK’의 장진석 디자이너, ‘포즈넘 버에잇’의 원종훈·김석현 디자이너, ‘호스트네임이즈’ 김유천 디자이너가 최종 선정됐다.
이들은 경기패션창작스튜디오에 대해 디자인 작업에 몰두할 수 있는 훌륭한 환경과 인프라가 갖춰져 있다고 입을 모았다. 또한 디자이너들은 네트워크 형성을 통해 자신의 브랜드 성장에 도움이 될 수 있다는 점에서도 만족감을 드러내기도 했다. 10기 입주 디자이너들은 앞으로 이곳에서 성공적인 국내 패션 디자이너가 되겠다는 의지를 보이며, 브랜드의 성공적인 론칭 외에도 유통 채널을 확대해 매출을 끌어올리겠다는 포부도 밝혔다.
