핀란드에 본사를 둔 아머스포츠그룹이 전개하는 브랜드.

2022년 상반기에 신규 설립한 전 데상트코리아 김훈도 대표의 GBGH(지비지에이치)가 글로벌스포츠 전문기업 아머스포츠그룹과 올해 상반기에 합작 법인을 출범시켜 스포츠 브랜드를 전개한다.

70여년 역사를 지닌 핀란드 기업인 아머스포츠그룹은 스포츠 의류와 용품을 전개하는 전문기업으로 10여 개의 유명 브랜드를 전개하고 있다. 대표적인 브랜드로는 스포츠 브랜드 살로몬,스키 브랜드 아토믹, 아웃도어 브랜드 아크테릭스, 테니스 브랜드 윌슨 등이 있다.

아머스포츠그룹(Armersportsgroup)은 2018년에 중국 스포츠 기업 안타그룹에 매각됐고, 현재 안타그룹 사장을 역임한  제임스 젱(James Zheng)이 CEO로서 경영을 맡고 있다.

전 데상트코리아 김훈도 대표가 지난해 상반기 설립한 GBGH(지비지에이치)가 글로벌스포츠 전문기업 아머스포츠그룹과 합작 법인을 출범시켜 스포츠 브랜드를 전개한다.

국내는 1996년에 아머스포츠코리아를 설립해 직진출했다. 현재 아머스포츠코리아에서는 살로몬, 아토믹, 윌슨 브랜드를 전개하고 있다. 이 가운데 최근 살로몬은 국내 시장에서 매출과 인지도가 가파르게 상승 중에 있으며 단독 매장을 열고 브랜드의 성장을 확대하고 있다.

‘살로몬’은 1947년에 프랑스 정통 산악스포츠전문 브랜드로 출발해 그간 혁신적인 장비와 아웃도어 의류를 선보여 인지도를 높여왔다. 최근에는 트레일 러닝 분야에서 독보적인 위치를 점하고 있는 만큼 세계 최고 수준의 제품력을 자랑한다. 이에 트레일러닝, 러닝, 하이킹 등 다양한 신발 제품들이 출시되면서 젊은층에게 핫한 브랜드로 떠오르고 있다.

살로몬

특히 신발 제품은 뛰어난 안정감에 우수한 접지력이 강점으로 전문가와 동호인들을 중심으로 우수한 평점을 받고 있다. 최근에는 일반인들까지 패션화로 살로몬을 선호하면서 신발을 중심으로 의류를 선보여 매출 성장이 크게 일고 있다.

또한 홀세일 거래처(스포츠 전문매장)에서도 온라인 매출 비중은 약 30%로 추정되고 있다. 이는 스트링 서비스를 하거나 전문적인 상담이 필요한 테니스의 특성에 의해 매장 방문이 필수적인 경우가 많아 온라인 매출 비중이 천천히 오르는 것으로 나타났다.

현재 윌슨은 테니스 인기가 높아지면서 테니스 전문 브랜드 1위 답게 사람들이 테니스에 관심을 가지고 재미있게 즐길 수 있도록 각종 대회와 흥미로운 관련 컨텐츠를 생산, 유통하는 데 집중하고 있다.

향후 GBGH는 아머스포츠그룹과 함께 기존 한국 내 법인인 아머스포츠코리아를 합작 법인으로 전환해 상반기부터 현재 전개 중인 브랜드를 운영하게 될 것으로 보인다. 따라서 앞으로 살로몬, 아토믹, 윌슨 등이 국내 시장에 어떤 모습으로 전개될지 초미의 관심사로 떠오르고 있다.

한편 GBGH의 김훈도 대표는 2000년 데상트코리아 설립 당시 직원으로 출발해 상품 기획 팀장, 부사장을 거쳐 2009년 41세의 비교적 젊은 나이에 대표 자리에 올라 업계에서는 남다른 패션 브랜드 운영 능력을 갖춘 인물로 평가하고 있다.

테니스 브랜드 윌슨

2018년에 김 대표는 데상트코리아를 연간 최고 7200억원 후반 매출에 영업 이익이 670억원을 상회할 정도로 크게 성장시켰고, 대표 브랜드인 데상트를 나이키, 아디다스 다음으로 국내 스포츠 브랜드 업계 매출 톱의 지위에 올리는 실력을 보였었다.

GBGH는 현재 지난해 8월에 런칭한 여성 캐주얼 브랜드 ‘카테고리9’, 재활용 에코 골프공 브랜드‘FAR5’를 전개하고 있다. GBGH 설립 당시 국내 최대 온라인 패션 플랫폼 무신사가 투자자로 참여해 향후 온라인 유통에 대한 전망을 밝게 하고 있다.
