한국패션시장 규모는 과거 6개월(상반기 3월~8월, 하반기 9월~익년 2월) 간 우리 국민이 구매한 패션제품의 품목별 구매율, 구매량, 구매가격 등 소비트랜드 지수에 모집단의 인구수를 적용해 산출하고 있다.
2022년의 역대 최대 실적은 우리 패션시장의 높은 회복탄력성(resiliency)이 기반이 되어, 경제·사회변화에 빠르게 적응하고 경쟁력을 유지하기 위한 필수 요소인 속도와 민첩성을 증대시켰기 때문이다.

패션제조 및 패션전문유통 사업을 영위하는 270개 패션기업의 2022년도 매출액도 46조 9807억원으로 전년보다 16.2% 증가했고, 영업이익은 전년보다 54.7% 증가했으며, 평균 영업이익률도 10.3%로 상승했다. 코로나19 팬데믹의 영향으로 침체되었던 패션기업들의 실적이 빠르게 회복되었다.
한편 글로벌 명품기업 및 외자기업의 성장력이 한국 토종기업보다 실적향상이 두드러졌다. 패션기업 성장력을 분석한 결과, 루이비통코리아와 크리스챤디올꾸뛰르코리아를 포함해서 샤넬코리아, 나이키코리아, 랄프로렌코리아, 프라다코리아, 에르메스코리아 등 글로벌 명품기업들의 성장력이 한국기업보다 강화됐다.

기업 성장력분석을 위해 미국 보스턴컨설팅그룹의 BCG매트릭스 방법을 응용해서 기업의 해당년도 시장점유율(X축)과 기업의 5개년 연평균성장률(Y축)을 기준으로 매트릭스로 분석한다.
한국패션시장은 2023년에도 3년 연속 플러스 성장을 기대하고 있고, 캐주얼복, 신발, 스포츠복, 여성정장 시장이 성장을 주도할 것으로 예측되었다.
패션소비자의 소비트랜드지수 중 2023년 상반기 패션경기 민감도지수(CSI)를 보면 지난 4개 기간 연속 개선 조짐을 보였다. 현재생활형편수준과 패션제품구매수준은 49.7p, 48.9p로 전기대비 각각 0.5p, 0.9p 상승했다. 다만 패션제품구매전망지수는 53.1p로 전기대비 0.2p 상승에 그쳤다.
