탑텐 아산 풍기점

올해 들어 탑텐의 성장세가 두드러지고 있다. 전체는 전년대비 30~40% 신장하고 있고, 기존점도 적게는 10%에서 많게는 20%이상 신장세를 기록하고 있다.

현재 유통망 수는 140여개에 이른다. 최근에 오픈한 충주점과 아산점이 660㎡(200평)대라면 앞으로는 다양한 크기의 매장을 선보이는 등 공격적인 매장 확장을 위해 새로운 전략도 구상하고 있는 것으로 알려졌다.

탑텐은 앞으로 오픈할 교외형 매장이 뛰어난 입지라고 판단될 경우 선점 차원에서 홀로 진출하는 것에 대해 적극적으로 검토하고 있다. 지금까지 교외형 매장의 경우 유니클로 옆에 붙는 전략을 사용했다. 지난 8월에 오픈한 충주 연수점과 아산 풍기점도 옆에 유니클로가 영업 중이다. 풍기점의 경우 ABC마트와 에스티코 등의 브랜드도 함께 구성돼 있다.

탑텐은 지난해부터 교외형 매장의 경우 단독 진출을 적극 추진해 왔다. 그 결과 지난 10월에 오픈한 용인점이 그 시작점이 될 전망이다. 주변에 타 경쟁 브랜드 없이 탑텐 단독으로 상권에 진입한 일명 독립을 선언한 첫 매장으로 향후 이 같은 독립 매장을 크게 늘릴 방침이다.

지금까지 교외형 매장의 경우 단독 진출보다는 각 업종별로 집객 파워를 지닌 타 브랜드들과 함께 진출했다. 이유는 홀로 영업해 수익을 만들어 낼 만큼 자생력을 갖추기 못했다는 판단 때문이다. 이는 그간 유통망 확장에 걸림돌로 작용하기도 했다. 타 브랜드의 판단과 결정이 탑텐의 매장 진출에 직접 영향을 주었기 때문이다.

하지만 올해 들어 안정적이고 높은 성장세가 지속적으로 이어지자, 결국 탑텐사업부는 과감하게 단독 진출에 도전하기로 결정했다. 따라서 앞으로 주변 브랜드와 상관없이 우수한 상권으로 평가되는 곳은 과감하게 단독 진출을 추진한다는 계획이다. 이에 유통망 확대에도 자연스레 탄력을 받게 될 전망이다.

탑텐은 교외형 매장 외에 기존 도심이나, 이미 상권이 형성된 곳에도 적극적으로 진출한다. 얼마전 결정한 전주 객사점과 최근에 오픈한 광주 충장로점의 경우 단 이틀만에 입점을 결정할 정도로 실제 업무가 적극적으로 이뤄지고 있다. 충장로점의 경우 첫 한달간 3억원이 넘는 매출을 보이는 등 성공적인 매장 운영이 이뤄지고 있다.

탑텐의 이 같은 성장에는 상품력이 또한 한몫하고 있다. 가을과 겨울 시즌 필수 아이템인 다운 상품이 전체 매출과 성장을 견인하고 있는 것은 물론, 최근에는 발열 내의 종류인 온에어가 일명 대박 아이템으로 떠올랐다. 전사 차원에 500만장을 생산해 일주일에 1만2000장씩 판매가 이뤄지는 등 속도가 붙은 것이다. 경량 다운의 경우는 이보다 더 인기를 얻어 주간 1만4000장씩 판매되는 것으로 나타났다.

탑텐의 강석균 총괄 상무는 “앞으로 유통망과 상품 모두 공격적으로 진행하기로 결정했다. 현재 매장 수가 141여개인데 240개까지 단숨에 달려갈 생각이다. 앞으로 좋은 상권은 선점 차원에서 주변과 상관없이 홀로 진출하는 것도 적극 추진하고 다양한 크기의 매장도 구상하고 있다. 상품력 강화에도 총력을 기울인다. 국내 롱다운 대표 브랜드에서 이제 발열 내의 대표 브랜드에 도전하고, 조만간 드레스셔츠를 경쟁력 있게 선보여 이 분야에도 최고 자리에 오르는 계획을 세워놓고 있다”고 강조했다.

한편 탑텐(TOPTEN10)은 8월 대형 매장 2개를 동시에 열어 주목받고 있다. 지난달 충주와 아산에 단층 660㎡(200평) 규모의 교외형 매장을 광복절 8월 15일에 문을 연 것이다.

이날 오픈으로 그 어느 때보다 관심이 집중된 충주점과 아산점은 오픈 전부터 온라인과 SNS를 통해 해당지역 소비자들의 열렬한 지지를 받으며 높은 기대감을 갖고 오픈했다.

탑텐 관계자는 “충주 연수점과 아산 풍기점은 200평 규모의 교외형 매장이다. 최근 국내 토종 브랜드에 높은 관심을 갖는 요즘 사회적인 분위기와 함께 오픈 전부터 관심과 성원이 그 어느 때보다 뜨거웠다. 실제 이러한 반응을 입증하듯 광복절 8월 15일 오픈 당일에만 두 매장 모두 각각 1억3000만원이라는 매출을 기록했다”고 전했다.

또한 이번에 오픈한 충주점과 아산점은 해당 지역을 대표하는 문화와 역사를 반영한 인테리어로 눈길을 끈다. 충주점의 경우 한국 전통무예 ‘택견’을 형상화한 매장 외관을 선보였고, 아산점은 충무공 이순신 장군의 외가와 유년시절부터 무과 급제까지 생활한 곳으로 실제 이순신 장군의 묘소가 있는 역사적 사실을 살려 매장에 표현했다. 바로 충무공 이순신과 거북선 이미지로 건물 외관을 나타내 해당 지역만의 특화되고 의미있는 매장을 선보인 것이다.

탑텐은 충주점과 아산점 신규 오픈을 기념해 탑텐의 여름 대표 아이템과 가을 신상 아이템을 ‘전 품목 1+1 프로모션’이라는 파격적인 이벤트를 진행했고, 앞으로도 이곳 지역 소비자들의 높은 호응에 보답하기 위해 다양한 행사를 이어간다는 계획이다.
