국내 최대 규모의 디자인 전문 전시회 ‘제18회 서울디자인페스티벌’이 지난 4일부터 8일까지 5일 동안 역대 최다 관람객 9만9580명을 기록하며 성황리에 막을 내렸다.
올해 서울디자인페스티벌은 ‘서울 에디션(Seoul Edition)’을 주제로 진행됐으며, 총 305개 브랜드(543개 부스)가 참여해 최신 트렌드를 반영한 다채로운 디자인 콘텐츠를 선보였다.
먼저, 현재 디자인 업계에서 가장 주목 받는 화두인 ‘로컬’ 트렌드에 집중한 콘텐츠들이 눈길을 끌었다. 4명의 아트 디렉터 협업 전시로 오픈 전부터 기대를 모은 주제관은 서울의 역동적인 매력을 보여주는 공간으로 구현돼 많은 관람객들의 발길을 붙잡았다. 이와 함께 서울을 테마로 한 신진 디자이너 8팀의 작품들을 전시하며 큰 관심을 받았다.

다양한 지역 특색과 문화를 담은 디자인도 대거 선보였다. 충주시 농산물 통합 브랜드 부스에서는 충주시장, 유튜버 카피추 등이 참석한 가운데 충주시 농산물 통합 브랜드의 새 캐릭터 ‘충주씨’의 론칭 쇼케이스가 열렸다. 역서사소는 광주ㆍ전남 등 지역의 정겨운 사투리에 아날로그적인 감성과 따뜻함을 더한 디자인 상품을, 꼬등어는 부산 대표 캐릭터 꼬등어와 관련된 디자인 굿즈들을 전시했다. 뚜까따는 십장생 콘셉트의 쿠션 컬렉션을 선보였으며, 미미달 부스에서는 산수화 자수를 놓은 패션 소품들을 소개하는 한국적인 요소를 담아낸 디자인을 만나볼 수 있었다.
전시장 곳곳에서는 트렌디하고 감각적인 푸드 콘텐츠도 마련됐다. 일상 음식에 브랜드 스토리와 감성을 더한 디자인 푸드는 관람객들에게 색다른 경험을 선사했다. 푸드트럭과 뽑기 이벤트를 통해 리 브랜딩 프로젝트 및 사회공헌 캠페인을 소개한 ‘피자알볼로’, 밀키트 카페를 선보인 ‘오뚜기’, 유니크한 감성을 담은 국내 최초 담금주 키트 브랜드 ‘살룻’ 등이 이목을 끌었다.
서울디자인페스티벌의 동시 행사로 진행된 ‘디자인 세미나’에서는 아르텍(Artek) 디자인 디렉터 출신 빌레 코코넨(Ville Kokkonen) 알토 대학교수, 과감한 컬러와 패턴으로 알려진 영국의 세계적인 디자이너이자 아티스트 베단 로라 우드(Bethan Laura Wood) 등 6개국 7명의 디자이너가 참여해 디자인 트렌드 및 관련 산업에 대한 깊이 있는 인사이트를 공유하는 시간을 가졌다.
